It’s one thing to be a woman who WORKS but being able to WERK it is just as important. In this case, werk is for the most part synonymous to the world’s newest favorite term, slay. It is more than just having a job and paying the bills but also going the extra mile to get it all done and looking effortlessly fab at the same time. That’s what it means in my words at least, not really sure how Webster’s defines it but anyway, it’s easier said than done, that’s for sure.
Just like most, I have a ‘regular’ job during the day and then grind it out doing what I love at night, on the weekends, oh and really any free moment I have. In my little-to-no free time, I enjoy sleeping but when that’s not happening, best believe I am WERKing it out. I probably should be WORKING OUT but we’ll save that convo for another day…
Anyway, this romper from High Maintenance Life immediately puts me in a working woman mindset. The loose but still fitting shape of it reminds me of the navy Dickies jumpsuit the old school mechanics wear. Now of course, I am not going to be putting in that type of labor but you get the point. It is so comfy and I actually love the fact that it is more loose instead of fitted stretch material. Even though it may seem like a more cool-weather material because of the suede, it actually is super cool and perfect for spring and early weather before the heat becomes unbearable.
It also gave me the perfect excuse to pull these babies out. I got these from Paparazzi ATL a few months ago when it was still cold outside and your toes just weren’t supposed to be worn out again yet LOL. The cross-hatch texture and lace up complimented the suede perfectly and were the perfect accessory to my manual labor demeanor. The blues were also the perfect match.
The whole look brought a whole new meaning to “blue collar”. The romper is casual, comfy, and is pure WERKing perfection. For me, it is great for casual slay days like going to brunch or a day party.
